Anqi walked out of the hospital, gazing at the falling leaves dancing in the sky, her heart filled with conflicting emotions as she thought about Gu Yichen's words. So naive about love, she didn't know who she liked more, yet
Gu Yichen's smile kept flashing through her mind. Before she knew it, the short holiday was coming to an end. Anqi used various excuses to avoid Gu Yichen, and his health was slowly recovering. On the third day after the holiday, he appeared on campus. Anqi, walking towards him, bumped into him unexpectedly. He reached out and steadily supported her, a smile on his face and in his eyes."Gu Yichen…"
Anqi's eyes widened in disbelief, unable to believe he was right in front of her.
"It's me, Anqi. It must have been hard to avoid me, right?"
Anqi was somewhat taken aback, unsure how to answer, only wanting to escape quickly.
"Anqi," Gu Yichen called her name again.
"I… I have something to do, I'll go back first."
Anqi walked away without looking back.
Watching An Qi's departing figure, Gu Yichen felt a heavy weight on his heart, a dull ache he couldn't quite describe.
"Every time fallen leaves carpet the ground, and the melody from the music room rises to the sky, I still remember your face, so quiet, like a fallen leaf quietly drifting in my heart..."
The neat handwriting on the paper was filled with An Qi's longing for Gu Yichen. At this moment, she felt this was for the best; not disturbing him was the way to show her love.
An Qi stopped avoiding Gu Yichen and instead found another way to be by his side—in the library, on the basketball court, on the tree-lined paths, and in the music room—silently watching over him, observing everything about him, his every smile, his joy or sorrow, his sadness and happiness. Occasionally, girls would approach him, handing him pink love letters or giving him chocolates. Sometimes she would feel a little disappointed, but she would still continue to stay by his side. And so, unknowingly, Gu Yichen noticed An Qi's unwavering protection. He didn't force her to stop avoiding him, and felt a small surge of emotion within him.
One evening, Anqi entered the music room and saw Gu Yichen, who had been waiting for her for a long time. Tears welled up in her eyes.
"Anqi," Gu Yichen said, walking up to her. "Don't hide from me anymore, okay?"
Anqi looked quietly at Gu Yichen. A fallen leaf landed on his shoulder. He reached out and picked it up, tears streaming down his face without warning.
"Anqi, I know you like me. I can feel it, but why have you been hiding from me? Didn't we agree to travel together? And I taught you to play 'Autumn Whispers'..."
Anqi ran into his arms, making him momentarily flustered. He then held her tightly, letting her cry in his embrace.
"I missed you so much," Anqi murmured.
"I know."
"Then do you know how much I like you?"
"I know."
"Gu Yichen!" Anqi called his name loudly, breaking free from his embrace and wiping away her tears. "You did this on purpose."
"Anqi," a dull ache lingered in her heart, and she hesitated to speak. A hint of sadness flashed in his eyes as Gu Yichen stepped forward and planted a kiss on her forehead.
Anqi stubbornly pouted, her face flushing, as if something had been gently touched, stirring up ripples in her heart. Feeling somewhat embarrassed, she pushed him away and slunk off.
From then on, Anqi woke up early every day to prepare lunchboxes for Gu Yichen.
The leaves on the sycamore trees lining the path rustled and clung to their mother trees, reluctant to leave. The path, carpeted with fallen leaves, crunched underfoot, sounding just like the tune Gu Yichen had played—"Autumn Whispers," so beautiful!
Anqi went into the music room, but Gu Yichen wasn't there. She sat on the piano bench, practicing and waiting for him. She waited for a long time, until it grew dark and the stars filled the night sky, but Gu Yichen still hadn't arrived. Disappointed, Anqi left the music room.
The next morning, Anqi entered the classroom, where Xiao Qing greeted her.
"Anqi, do you know? Gu Yichen is going abroad."
"What?" Anqi's eyes widened in disbelief. "When did this happen?"
"Didn't you know? Lots of people are saying it, I don't know if it's true or not, he should be at the airport now! Sigh... Anqi, where are you going..."
Anqi walked out of the school gate, hailed a taxi, got in, told the driver where she wanted to go, and the car sped away.
"Yichen, you have to wait for me, you must wait for me..."
Sitting in the car, Anqi anxiously looked out the window, constantly telling the driver to go faster, faster.
