Sadness succumbs to novelty (Part 2)

Today is September 1st, the first day of school. The holidays are long over, and so is my childhood. Well then, let's go to school.

This time, my mom brought me here very, very early, before the sun was even out. The road felt both short and long.

My class assignment was already decided… I still couldn't help but count down: one, two, three, four, five.

To be honest, I was very sad. Goodbye, elementary school, teachers and classmates, the classroom, the road, the flowers and grass, and my childhood self. This

is my second time here. Wu Dian Middle School!

I understand, the new first-year students are all on the second and third floors of the Shuren Building. Let's go to the second floor first. I met Yin and Ru again; they were both earlier than me. The three of us looked at the student lists posted on the classroom doors. The corridor was crowded. Seventh grade, Class 8, Class 7—no one's name was listed. A little while later, Zhang Yin came over, excitedly and regretfully pulling me to a classroom. This is, Class 7-6, my Class 7-6. My name was second; my heart skipped a beat. Who's first… Zang Xu, oh, I remember.

After calming down, I wanted to accompany the two girls to see where they were. So we went to the third floor. There was Ru in class 72, and Yin in class 73. Okay, three people, three classes.

After that, we each went into our own classrooms.

There were already many people there, but I was alone, and I didn't know anyone. The homeroom teacher was a female English teacher, Ms. Liu. I almost cried when I found out I got 81 in both Chinese and Math. It was the first time I'd done so badly.

Never mind, I just sat down in the second row. To my right was a tall girl named Wu Qing. Heartless? Haha. While she was chatting with me, she was also talking to the boy behind her. I asked, "Who is he?" "Zhu Huakai." Oh, Zhu Huakai.

I saw them chatting happily, and I just kept quiet, watching without saying anything, not feeling confused. I was already prepared to spend my junior high school years with them; they would definitely be great… I would have many friends again.

Roll call began. "Zang Xu." "Here!" A very pleasant voice, a girl's voice. Wow, this is Zang Xu, and she's actually a girl! I was quite surprised. When I heard Li Shuyu's name, I felt a sense of déjà vu. She was my deskmate in first and second grade...!

The homeroom teacher quieted us down and talked about some things, like bringing blankets and parking lots. Then school was over, and we were told to come back tomorrow.

Then I arrived at dormitory number 2. The dormitory door was round and very pretty.

Everything was almost settled. We lined up and received our books. The teacher asked all the students to go outside and come in one by one. I was in the first row, with four desks together. Li Shuyu was on the far right! There was a girl on the far left, a girl to my right, and I was in the middle. One was named Qin Yaru, and the other was named Sun Bing.

(I think that's how it is, but I can't quite remember.)

These past two days have gone by quickly. Everything is unfamiliar, everything is new. I'm not sad at all. Finally, sure enough, sadness was defeated by the novelty.
